I am an experienced nurse with a passion for rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, dementia care, assisted living, and the elderly in general.  I also have a passion for the staff who work in those environments and strive to remove barriers and implement efficient and effective systems so staff are able to be more successful in providing high quality patient and resident care. 

 

I apply a systematic approach to consultation, utilizing the QAPI process to identify opportunities for improvement, determine root causes for gaps, and implementing solutions to help ensure sustained results.  My approach is one of building relationships, listening to and learning from facility staff and leadership, using direct observation, teamwork, and collaboration.  An important lesson I have learned through the years is that we work in a complex environment; therefore, in order to achieve sustained improvement over time, the solutions are also often complex and multifactorial.  Quick fixes are often just that....quick, with short-term improvement....with the same problem often returning again later.  Olson Clinical Consulting can assist you to take that deep dive and lead your team in a larger quality improvement project in an area where you are hoping to make an impact.
